TTC update) - Syndication, API, Mashup - Difference of data needs - public vs. media vs. politicians vs. etc! - Data Info - Accountability, What media wants, 311 (new Toronto initiative), Mapping data (Google, Maps.toronto, Open street - Snopes, annenberg fact check We're talking about the necessity of accessibility to data, how far we've come in the past year. Interactive media has been so instrumental to this end, but there is a need for institutions to come on board. Ryan is talking about political accountability (eg. accuracy of conversations, policies to be implemented, etc). and how engaging online can work at this. Denis is talking about the importance of accessibility to information, and how people can choose their level of engagement. Beauty of TTC updates - the notion that people don't have to actively seek information, but the TTC reaches out to the public to provide that information. - Other government services, corporations should also act in this fashion. Michael: Governments should make data public, and people will decide how to use it, what applications to use etc.
